I'm glad I called for directions, even though I had a GPS unit in my motorhome because the nice gal told me to be sure to use the Truck Route. I would have not made it if I hadn't known that. The campground was small: but nice. The only thing I didn't like was that when I checked in, my husband was waiting in the motorhome and the gal at the counter was the only one in the store, so even though I was there first, she kept taking people buying things ahead of me. I had to wait and wait and wait. One woman bought something, left, came back later and bought something else and I was still there waiting while others were being served before me. Finally the gal decided to allow me to pay and had a whole bunch of brochures (that I had no interest in) that she wanted to open up and go through each and every one with me! Horseback riding, (I have my own horses and don't want to ride rental horses), golf cart taxi's (I have a car I tow and am not interested in that) and so on and so on. All the while, my husband waited in the motorhome. I figured the gal meant well, so didn't say anything. We stayed 2 nights and had a great time: Virginia City is so wonderful with the old beautiful buildings and Lake Tahoe isn't that far away. We took a day trip over there. Everything worked fine at the campground: Wi-Fi, TV, all was great. Price was pretty good too! By the way, be sure to go to The Ponderosa and visit "Pondo" the resident Saint Bernard puppy! Also be sure to avoid the Delta: the bartender is a jerk. The campground gave us a "buy one get one free" drink pass for the Delta, when we presented it we were charged $5 for the beer that was $4 on the menu and couldn't believe anyone with an attitude like that could be allowed to work with the public. It was so bad that we didn't even use the other coupon we had. Then we went up the street and found The Ponderosa, where the owner let us bring our dog into the bar to visit with Pondo. It was great. The "Pondo-drool" beer was the best! Said he'd accept the coupon from the Delta: but he was so nice we didn't use it.

We specifically chose this campground because it was listed in our Auto Club campground book as having Wi-Fi. We passed-up other nice campgrounds, but needed to use our computers, so continued to this one. When we got here we went into the office and noticed "No" signs everywhere. No discounts, we reserve the right to refuse service, etc...this made us a little uncomfortable. Even though it was during the week, they said they only had one spot that would accommodate our 36' motorhome, but we wanted to stay 2 nights and they only had one, unless we wanted to pull up stakes and move for the 2nd night, which we didn't. We decided to take the one night and shorten our vacation a night. The women in the office were not very nice: we figured they must be "burnt-out" dealing with the public. Even though the campground was listed in the Auto Club book, they did not give discounts for Auto Club or Good Sam. Before leaving the office I asked if they required a password for the Wi-Fi and was told that they had no Wi-Fi where my site was. I would have left if I wasn't tired and hadn't already paid: there were so many other campgrounds to choose from. We had to disconnect our tow car in order to get into the supposedly pull-through site. I do have to say that the campground was very nice; with beautiful trees and the sites were large and private. The problem with the place was the attitude of the employees and lack of Wi-Fi that we specifically chose the park for. The next morning as we walked over to the restaurant for breakfast: we could see a large bus pull in and stop, then about 100 people got out of the bus and all went and got in line for the restaurant we were walking to. This turned out to be a good thing, as the 2 women in-line in front of us said they had dinner there the night before and it was "lousy and expensive". My husband went and looked at the buffet and said it didn't look good and the price was $11.00 each, so we left. We drove down the road and went to a wonderful restaurant on hwy 12 called Bryce Canyon Pines, it was worth skipping breakfast at the lousy place! We did go to the Ruby gift shop and found it is large and has alot to choose from at reasonable prices. I felt a little like I was being herded around like cattle at Ruby's. They seem to have the monopoly at Bryce Canyon. Maybe that's how they get away with lousy food.
